Big Picture Parenting: How to Shape Great Kids
In this age of mixed-up priorities, it can be difficult to figure out what’s best for a child’s well-being. Fortunately, research provides clear answers. Close, loving relationships early on increase caring, connection, confidence, and cooperation. When a child's basic needs are met, discipline problems decrease and good feelings increase. This workshop gives an overview of the essentials that help families succeed. Download flyer

"It's always easy to feel intimidated before taking a parenting class, but Louise made us feel right at home. There is so much to learn it can seem overwhelming, but she made it seem simple and easy to remember. What a great combination of wit, wisdom, and specific presentation of parenting skills!"

How to Have a Happier Family
Emotions are contagious.  Happy children make us happy.  Angry, anxious, depressed children can upset everyone.  Also, “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”.  The “New Science of Happiness” can help us learn the skills for being happier, and the obstacles that get in the way.  It’s worth the effort to put more positive emotion in your life and  family.  Beyond feeling good, when we’re happier we are more tolerant, creative, expansive and more likable.  Our relationships are more likely to improve.

"I could listen to her forever and ever."

Raising Emotionally Healthy Children
The troubles that show up in adolescence actually start early in life.  When we connect the dots, what we need to do becomes clear.  To have healthy teenagers, we must nurture emotional connection from the beginning.  This workshop focuses on how to communicate and relate to kids in a way that creates a deeper connection and builds their social and emotional intelligence.

"The presentation was absolutely marvelous. Dr. Hart brings out the best in all of us."

Secrets of Positive Parenting
Positive parenting is about making good feelings and good times a daily experience. Simple strategies based on brain science, the latest academic research, and just plain common sense, can make a world of difference.  In this workshop, you will get a sneak preview of the ten principles of positive parenting from the upcoming book, "Secrets of Positive Parenting," written by Dr. Hart and her daughter, Kristen Caven.

Other presentations include:

Boosting Resilience in Youngsters
Resilience refers to the ability to bounce back, to withstand hardship, to repair oneself.  It refers to the clusters of strengths that help people create a good life in spite of the bad stuff.  All youngsters are resilient, but with the overarching focus on what's wrong with them, it can be difficult for them to connect to their strengths—their resilience.  This session helps participants recall what helped them survive in past traumas—their “Saving Graces”—and embrace those unique resources for future challenges.

“The 'Fostering Resilience' workshop presented fresh ideas in a positive, uplifting manner.”

Self-Esteem: The Best Gift
Self-esteem is a great gift that parents can develop with their children.  Parents play the most important role in their children’s self-esteem, which, in turn, shapes their behaviors.  It’s easy to be good when you feel good; and it’s easy to be bad when you feel bad. This interactive session explores the fundamentals of bolstering self-worth and self-regard, thereby preventing a host of troublesome behaviors.

"I have attended many seminars over the past 27 years and have never enjoyed or been fulfilled as much as I was by this one."

"Taking the workshop opened my eyes to how my parents made me feel, and I realized I was giving the same messages to my daughter, even though I didn't want to.  Reading the books afterwards helped me start to change. I'm a better parent now, and she's a happier kid!"
